Women in Games (WIGJ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting diversity and equality in the video game industry. It contributes to building free of gender discrimination gaming industry, culture, and community.
The organization was founded in 2009 in the United Kingdom when the percentage of women in the game industry workforce equaled only 6%. Since then the organization has expanded increasingly around the world. The number of women in games is rising each year yet there’s a long way to go in achieving the ultimate goal.
The primary mission of Women in Games is to increase the representation of women in the video game industry and to create an environment that is welcoming and supportive of females. This includes advocating for policies and practices that promote diversity and inclusion, as well as providing resources and networking opportunities for women in the industry.
One of the key initiatives of Women in Games is its mentoring program, which pairs women in the industry with experienced mentors who can offer guidance and support. The organization also hosts events and conferences where women can communicate and share their experiences, as well as workshops and training programs to help women acquire the skills they need to succeed in the industry.
